Mr Brain’s celebrates The British Roast Dinner Week.
Next week marks the start of the British Roast Dinner Week, 29th September – 5th October 2014. Fans of traditional British fare will be happy to hear , for the second year running, that pubs, hotels and homes around the country will be serving roast dinners every day of the week and not just on Sundays.
Mr Brain’s fully supports British Roast Dinner week because it reflects our values of serving great-tasting, British food that people love. Much like our delicious faggots, a roast dinner is a traditional and comforting dish which brings the family together.
When you think of iconic British meals, one of the first things that comes to mind is the traditional Sunday roast. Whether you serve it with beef, lamb, pork or chicken you can’t deny that it’s a central feature of British life. It is commonly believed that the tradition of a Sunday roast began during the reign of King Henry the VII in the 1400’s. During this time, the royal guard would prepare roasted beef every Sunday after Church. It was because of this ritual that they were affectionately referred to as “beefeaters” – a name which remains today for the Yeoman Warders.
In modern society, the roast dinner is still extremely popular and is a central component of family life. Simpler than a roast dinner, why not serve up some of our delicious Mr Brain’s Faggots with some roasties and veg during British Roast Dinner week? We can’t think of a better way to celebrate traditional, British food.
